WHAT YOU’LL DO  

The Senior Manager of Extended Learning is a key leader responsible for the strategic vision, operational excellence, and financial performance of our comprehensive beyond-the-classroom programs. This portfolio encompasses afterschool clubs, weekend academies, winter camps, and our flagship summer camp. Reporting directly to the Director of Student Wellbeing, you will oversee two experienced program staff and will be accountable for achieving ambitious enrollment and financial targets. The ideal candidate will leverage deep knowledge of the Shenzhen educational landscape to design and deliver exceptional, mission-aligned experiences that delight students and families, while seamlessly integrating with the culture and operations of a premium international school. 

 

As a Senior Manager of Extended Learning at Avenues Shenzhen, you will: 

Oversee Program Operational Excellence 

  • Collaborate with the manager to develop a forward-looking strategy for Extended Learning that enhances the overall Avenues student experience and aligns with the school’s mission. 
  • Ensure all programs—including afterschool, weekend, and camp offerings—operate with exceptional quality, safety, and efficiency. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation, expansion, and continuous improvement, leading the design and implementation of new initiatives. 

Drive Financial & Growth Through Effective Execution 

  • Support the manager in developing the annual budget of extended learnings, proactively monitor the financial performance and revenue growth targets. 
  • Use market and program data and insights to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities, providing clear recommendations to the manager for decision-making. 
  • Implement growth and financial strategies to drive for the targets, including developing compelling programs that meet enrollment targets, managing vendor contracts, procurement, and financial reporting with efficiency and accuracy. 

Build Partnerships & Deliver an Outstanding Family Experience 

  • Build and maintain a strong network of high-quality educational vendors, instructors, and partners across Shenzhen.  
  • Work closely with division leaders, teachers and operations to ensure programs are seamless and well supported. 
  • Create a consistently positive experience for students and families, helping Extended Learning become a “must-have” part of the Avenues journey and a driver of word-of-mouth referrals.  
  • Serve as the visible leader and main point of contact for the Extended Learning community. 

Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team 

  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering a team environment of open communication, professional growth, and shared success. 
  • Build and coordinate a larger team of seasonal instructors, coaches, and program staff. 

 

*This role includes weekend work, with days off provided during the weekdays to ensure a balanced schedule. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING 

Candidates should have most, if not all, of the following: 

  • Energized by Avenues' mission and the opportunity to create transformative learning experiences outside the traditional classroom. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the Shenzhen extracurricular education market, with a strong network of vendors and resources. 
  • More than 5 years of proven experience in program management, business development, and financial oversight, ideally within a premium international school or high-end educational service environment. 
  • Exceptional resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to navigate ambiguous situations to create new solutions. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders (students, parents, faculty, leadership). 
  • A strong operational mindset, with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellence in every facet of program execution. 
  • Sense of deep personal responsibility for achieving team and organizational goals. 
  • Experience leading a team to accomplish ambitious results 
  • Chinese native speaker with professional fluency in English
