Community Engagement Associate

Location: São Paulo, SP, Brazil

Avenues: The World School seeks a Community Engagement Associate to join the team! The purpose of the area is to maintain strong external relationships and ensure that Avenues engages responsibly with the social impact ecosystem in São Paulo and Brazil. The team is also committed to ensure that social and environmental perspectives inform our efforts to build a more diverse and inclusive school community.

We prepare students for engaged global citizenship in the twenty-first century, with an approach that combines language immersion, interdisciplinary teaching, a global curriculum, and a culture of creativity and deep collaboration.



As a Community Engagement Associate you will:

  • Nurture relations with all the current and future partnerships of the area (including ACE Fellowship, LEAP, Pracinha Initiative, Coletivo Panô, Criativos do Bairro)by following up with key members of different project teams, documenting important materials and adding to the projects with your own ideas and experience.   • Project management: control administration process of Community Engagement, such as payments, contracts, budget, logistics. 
  • Support the execution of institutional projects

    in the local communities of Jardim Panorama and Real Parque - around Avenues São Paulo's campus, working in partnership with the administration (operations, finance, security, etc).

  • Mentor studentsin the execution of social innovation projects, including Seed Bank projects and others,by coordinating visits, logistics, goals, alignments and relationship building.
  • Engage with students taking an elective course such as 5th Term, Minimester,

    and help the Director of the area to plan and facilitate lessons.

  • Engage with Avenues Parents Association (APA) and its committees specially the Parents Community Engagement one. 
  • Engage with colleagues to enable their participation in existing projects and creation of new ones.
  • Communicate the area's achievements and needs, by collaborating on the school's weekly bulletins and coordinating the production of Annual Reports. 
  • Support the organization of school Events such as Festa Junina and One Event, dedicated to showcase social impact work.
  • Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives 


Candidates should have most, if not all, of the following: 

  • Experience in the field of social impact and community engagement;
  • Passion for working with students and teachers;
  • Passion for working with NGOs, community leaders, public policy makers;
  • Organization and sense of logistics;
  • Agenda management;
  • Be proactive;
  • Ability to solve urgent problems
  • Ability to build relationships between diverse community stakeholders, particularly across lines of inequality in a Brazilian context (parents, students, teachers and partner organizations and groups). 
  • Ability to operate and achieve ambitious goals in contexts of ambiguity, change and growth, being self-directed, organized and working with a lot of autonomy. 
  • Keen intellectual curiosity, creativity and mindset of continuous learning and growth.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English.
