ABOUT THE ROLE
The Social Media Associate position supports the director of communications in executing processes and protocols that result in effective and streamlined communications for the whole school. This role acknowledges the dynamic and fast-paced nature of campus life and the vital importance of a strong communications program for faculty, staff and parents. The Social Media Associate will support the operations of the school’s social media accounts and external communications workflows while drafting, editing, translating and publishing messages to exacting standards that embody Avenues’ style and approach.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will bring proven abilities to contribute in key areas:
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing, Admissions, and Communications (MAC) team, as well as academic divisions, to understand the unique aspects of Avenues’ educational programs. This collaboration will help gather and showcase compelling stories that enhance community confidence.
- Content Creation: Develop Chinese-language content, including creative writing, editing, and commissioning across various platforms such as print, digital, and social media. The candidate will also proofread all Chinese content before external communication.
- Social Media Management: Compile and write educational content while managing and promoting the school's social media platforms. Implement comprehensive social media marketing strategies to ensure consistent brand messaging and engagement.
- Localization: Adapt creative assets and marketing materials into Chinese, paying close attention to cultural nuances and sensitivities. This requires a deep understanding of the Chinese language, culture, history, and politics.

ABOUT YOU
Candidates should have most, if not all, of the following:
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in social media management, content creation, or a related role
- Language Proficiency: excellent command of both Chinese and English, with strong writing and editing skills in both languages.
- Polished writing abilities, being able to thoughtfully research and report on important issues and events with speed and insight
- Creative Skills: Ability to produce engaging and culturally relevant content tailored for external families.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in social media platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Cultural Awareness: A deep understanding of Chinese culture, history, and current events, with the ability to navigate cultural sensitivities effectively.
- Highly organized, motivated self-starter and able to quickly take ownership of the role
