Avenues New York opened in 2012 and currently serves over 1800 students in grades nursery – 12. Our second campus, in São Paulo, opened  in August 2018. Our third campus, Avenues Online, educates students in the most advanced remote learning platform available, with students from Russia, Switzerland, Costa Rica, America and Nigeria. Our fourth campus, Avenues Shenzhen opened in the fall of 2019. Avenues prepares students for engaged global citizenship in the modern world, with an approach that combines language immersion, interdisciplinary learning, a global curriculum and a culture of creativity and deep collaboration.


Avenues Creative 

Avenues: The World School has a world-class, global creative department who is responsible for telling the Avenues brand story to and helping to establish and support our brand in the marketplace. The team is responsible for developing and managing content and materials across multiple, integrated platforms including our website, paid media channels, social channels (WeChat 微信号:avenues2012), events as well as other innovative platforms. Our content reaches various audiences including prospective and current Avenues families, faculty/staff, the education community and our local communities. The team collaborates across teams at HQ and on campuses to ensure our creative assets are aligned with our educational, marketing, family and colleague engagement strategies. The team is also responsible for establishing and monitoring the visual identity of the Avenues brand globally.


The Opportunity

The Shenzhen Creative Director is responsible for identifying important stories and executing the creative production strategy in collaboration with marketing and admissions. The SCD will help identify outside vendors to support creative production for video production, local ad production and localization for various media including print, digital, social media, and programmatic media as particularly relevant to this market. Deliverables include development of new materials,  creating advertisements in print, social media content, promotional and informational events, identity design and supporting the Global Creative Director in ensuring that the Avenues brand is consistently executed.  This role is responsible for the awareness, maintenance and retention phases of Avenues brand building in China while following  Avenues’ worldwide brand standards.   


The Shenzhen creative director reports to the Global Creative Director in New York’s headquarters and locally reports to the Director of Marketing, China. This role will facilitate the conversion and creation of key brand materials in the HQ creative group for use in Shenzhen. This role works with faculty/staff to help them imagine projects that will become content used to attract, engage and retain families, students and employees.


Key Responsibilities

  • Works closely with admissions, digital engagement teams and Shenzhen leadership to tell the story of Avenues Shenzhen.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and local agencies in the China market educating them about Avenues unique worldview and position in education.
  • Is able to understand the unique qualities of Avenues and able to communicate them in a broad range of media, either in partnership with other agencies or individually,  including:
    • Video
    • Still Photography
    • Graphic Design
    • Multimedia
    • Augmented Reality
    • Virtual Reality
    • Theatrical presentations
  • Lead the development and execution of a wide variety of optimal enrollment and campus collateral, including digital ads, brochures, parent presentations, event materials, and special projects – in both print and electronic formats.
  • Manage and set procedure for the full creative development – including creative requests, project flow, deadlines, and prioritization. 
  • Ensure quality and timely delivery of projects within budget and on brand.
  • Own campus brand VI  & style guide and execute  creative initiatives locally with the fit for purpose communication solutions for Chinese customers in mind while following Avenues’ worldwide brand standards.



  • The Shenzhen creative director must have strong people skills. She/he must be socially outgoing; comfortable with a broad range of people from students of all ages, their parents, teachers and staff.
  • Fluent in Mandarin, Chineseand English.
  • Is a networkerand listener.
  • Understands the complex nuancesbetween Eastern and Western brands and marketing.
  • Is a strong storytellerhaving experience in documentary filmmaking, still photography
  • Has an aesthetic mind setthat spans design, art, music, theater.
  • Has High Standards and Attention to Detail, does not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project. 
  • Project managementskills, to move complex projects forward on schedule and keep multiple people aligned and on track. 
  • Organization and Planning, Plan, organizes, schedules and budgets in an efficient, productive manner. Focuses on key priorities.
  • A keen analytical, problem-solving approach, including in ambiguous situations that require figuring out new solutions rather than taking predetermined paths to success
  • Flexible Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Copes effectively with complexity and change.
