Location: New York, NY - Remote support for Avenues Online/Extended leave replacement
Start Date: Immediate
Period: 6 months - possible extension TBD
Role Type: Part-time employee (24h/week)

THE OPPORTUNITY 

The Technology Integrator fosters the use of educational technology as a transformative teaching and learning tool, supporting students, faculty, and staff to use it confidently, creatively and independently. The integrator will drive the adoption of innovative and effective uses of educational technology in an environment that encourages creative and independent use of technology throughout Avenues Online, our virtual campus, and other Avenues campuses - New York, São Paulo, and Shenzhen.

The position will support our faculty, staff, and students in multiple learning environments through professional development, and active participation in the teaching and learning process. The position reports to the Lead Technology Integrator and is part of the greater campus Information Systems and Technology Department that includes Technology Integration, Information Technology, and Library & Media teams. Avenues Integrators also collaborate with other TIs at other Avenues campuses to teach, learn, collaborate, and align technology integration at Avenues campuses worldwide. The AON and ELC/LD Technology Integrator works towards curricular innovation as it supports the mission of Avenues. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

The Technology Integrator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

Research and Evaluate 

  • Research, identify and model creative tools and trends in academic technology use for N–12 
  • Research new and emerging technologies, software and hardware solutions 
  • Participate directly in technology-related professional development opportunities 

Design 

  • Create learning resources for teachers, staff, and students. 
  • Implement a plan in conjunction with divisional leadership for workshops and professional development programs for faculty and staff.
  • Create and update the digital fluency curriculum, including curriculum on digital citizenship and creative computation. 
  • Work in partnership with the Library & Media team on digital literacy
  • Work with Information Technology colleagues to support equipment and software deployments 

Lead/Mentor/Coach 

  • Attend regular divisional, grade-level, and discipline meetings to provide support and guidance on curriculum design, particularly when technology or computational thinking is involved or could enhance learning. 
  • Regularly work with divisional leadership to promote purposeful instructional use of technology, thoughtful technology-adjacent policy creation, and advocate for strong digital literacy across grades. 
  • Motivate and support faculty in the development of projects and practices that purposefully use technology as a transformative teaching and learning tool. 
  • Provide individual training opportunities for faculty, staff and students (including just-in-time user trainings), larger workshops, and outside professional development opportunities involving the integration of technology in the classroom. 
  • Provide onboarding technology orientations for new faculty, staff and student training (N-12) 
  • Partner, coach and support teachers and students of varying comfort levels with technology 

WHAT YOU BRING 

  • Accomplished educator with 3+ years integrating technology into the curriculum, especially in grades N-5

  • Masters in Educational Technology, or related field is a strong plus 
  • Passion and savvy for innovative technology, always keeping up with the latest edtech trends
  • Strong track record of using tech effectively as a teacher, to help students perform at high levels
  • Experience with MacOS, iOS, and practical knowledge of mainstream educational software applications 
  • Familiarity or interest in coding and robotics platforms appropriate for N-5 grade levels 
  • A keen analytical, problem-solving approach, including in ambiguous situations that require figuring out new solutions rather than taking predetermined paths to success
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, to partner closely with and support fellow educators
  • Keen intellectual curiosity and mindset of continuous learning and growth
